Bulang Tea Mountain
Old Banzhang Village Tea Cake
Menghai
County, 2009
-
Menghai County, Yunnan Province, China
-
Sheng 'raw'
Pu-erh
-
Produced by the Haiwan Tea Factory
-
This cake is made from 100% wild arbor
broad-leaf from ancient tea trees ( trees over 100 years old ) gathered
near Old Banzhang Village in Bulang Mountain
-
Stone pressed in 2009: light /medium
compression
-
To open the cake: gently bend back and forth
to loosed the interlocking tea leaves and break the cake into large
pieces or use a Pu-erh cake breaking tool ( un-sharp knife )
-
The tea liquor is strong and forthright and
rather bitter, but deliciously so. After the bitterness comes the
sweetness and the flavor stays and stay. Distinctive Banzhang taste from
leaf that is highly sought after by other Pu-erh producers for its
staying power and good, strong flavor
-
Opinion: An impressive taste with a lot of
cha qi. Mao cha from these old trees makes characteristically strong,
forthright Pu-erh. This cake is drinkable now but will become very
impressive with time and proper storage
